DESCRIPTION:This class will teach you the skills to create your own handcrafted\, cold process\, custom soaps from scratch. This demonstration class will show you step by step how to make a batch of cold process soap. During the class you will learn a brief history of soap\, safety tips and practices\, how to properly handle sodium hydroxide\, the basic chemical process of soap\, how to customize your soap batch with color\, scents and additives\, options for molds and what to do with your soap after it saponifies (chemically changes into soap).  \nDue to the time involved in making soap\, you will not be making your own bar but will be given a detailed demonstration by the instructor with each step of the process. This class will be held at Camp Tyler in Whitehouse\, TX.  \nCamp Tyler 15143 Camp Tyler Road\, Whitehouse\, TX 75791. \nProper PPE (bee suits and gloves) are required for this class for your safety as we will be hands-on with the hives. In addition\, we will ask you to sign a waiver freeing Plants of Texas\, Camp Tyler\, and Flint Farm and Apiary from any incident that could occur while on-site resulting from a bee sting during the hive inspection. SUMMARY:Understanding Your Irrigation System
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a morning spent learning all about your irrigation system.  \nThis class will cover basic practices and tips to keep an irrigation system functional\, reducing water usage and waste.  \nThis class will be taught by Jon Kirk. Jon has been a civil engineer for over 30 years with over 15 years devoted to professional landscape irrigation design\, repair\, maintenance\, auditing\, and water management. He holds licenses in Texas as a Licensed Irrigator and Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester\, as well as Texas Water Smart Professional licensure through the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association. He is also a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor that is a national certification\, as well as an EPA WaterSense Partner.

SUMMARY:Advanced Intermediate Beekeeping Class
DESCRIPTION:This is the final beekeeping class that will be held at Plants of Texas this spring. The remaining classes this spring/summer will be held on location to be announced at another date. You must have attended the Beginner and Intermediate class to attend this Advanced Intermediate class. Please email beekeeping@plantsoftexas.com with any questions concerning this.  \nThis class will cover Advanced Intermediate Beekeeping and much more. We will have a bee expert conducting this class. This class will cover disease\, pest control\, how to grow your apiary\, and bee friendly plants. You will also have the opportunity to purchase bees\, bee boxes\, and beekeeping accessories (suits\, gloves\, smokers\, etc) at this class (to be picked up at a later date). Plants of Texas is excited to make all your bee dreams come true in one stop. \nThis class will be the bee’s knees! The class fee is $25 and will be at the tent. \n***Please RSVP to this event by clicking on the “Reserve Now” button. This class is limited to 30 guests.
