Join Plants of Texas and Marissa Caggiano, apprentice to the renowned TX Forager and herbalist, Mark Merriweather, for a day of guided foraging!
There are edible and medicinal plants all around us growing wild and free! Come to a fun and enlightening plant walkabout where you can expect 3 hours of learning skills and methods to positively and safely identify medicinal and edible plants, their uses, the ethics of foraging, methods and ways of using each plant, and the confidence to do these things on your own going forward. This 3-hour, outdoor class will cover:
-Foraging ethics and methods
-Where to find wild plants and edibles
-What common plants can be found in our east TX environment
-Safely identifying wild and poisonous plants
-Uses for wild foraged plants
This will be a walking/ hiking experience filled with exploration. Please wear appropriate shoes and bring water/snacks to last for the full 3 hours. We’ll enjoy getting out in nature and learning about these treasures hidden in plain sight!
