This class is the follow up to the Beginner Beekeeping class that we hosted in February. If you did not make it to the first class, don't worry, you can still attend this Intermediate class and get caught up to speed with all things bees and beekeeping, plus much more! After you complete this class, you will feel prepared and excited to keep your own hive(s) this spring and embark on a buzzin' new adventure! This class will cover intermediate beekeeping and much more. We will have a guest speaker from Flint Farm & Apiary conducting this class. This class will cover hive inspections, recognizing brood patterns, and bee behavior. You will also have the opportunity to purchase bees, bee boxes, and beekeeping accessories (suits, gloves, smokers, etc) at this class (to be picked up at a later date). This class will cover PPE and safety, the hive components and tools needed, what's inside a hive, comb, propolis, worker bees, drones, and queens. In this class we will talk about where to locate your vegetable garden, soil preparation, when to plant and start different vegetable types, rotating crops to maximize your space, container gardening, raised beds, common pests & treatment. This class will cover disease, pest control, how to grow your apiary, and bee friendly plants. You will also have the opportunity to purchase bees, bee boxes, and beekeeping accessories (suits, gloves, smokers, etc) at this class (to be picked up at a later date).
