Join Plants of Texas and Marissa Caggiano, apprentice to the renowned TX Forager and herbalist, Mark Merriweather, for a day of guided foraging! There are edible and medicinal plants all around us growing wild and free! Come to a fun and enlightening plant walkabout where you can expect 3 hours of learning skills and methods to positively and safely identify medicinal and edible plants, their uses, the ethics of foraging, methods and ways of using each plant, and the confidence to do these things on your own going forward. This 3-hour, outdoor class will cover: -Foraging ethics and methods -Where to find wild plants and edibles -What common plants can be found in our east TX environment -Safely identifying wild and poisonous plants -Uses for wild foraged plants This will be a walking/ hiking experience filled with exploration. Join Plants of Texas and Daniel Lennon for an informative class on beginner beekeeping. This class will cover beginner beekeeper basic knowledge and much more. We will have a bee expert leading this class. This class will cover PPE and safety, the hive components and tools needed, what's inside a hive, comb, propolis, worker bees, drones, queens and much more. You will also have the opportunity to purchase a nuc and beebox at this class (to be picked up at a later date). Plants of Texas is excited to make all your bee dreams come true in one stop. Join Plants of Texas and Daniel Lennon for our hands-on hive inspection class. Daniel Lennon will lead this class and will cover how to properly inspect your hive in real time plus other things to look for during a hive inspection. This class will be held at Plants of Texas in Flint. This class is perfect for all levels of back-yard beekeeping experience. Proper PPE (full bee suits, gloves, and boots (or other closed toe shoes) are required for this class for your safety as we will be hands-on with the hives. In addition, we will ask you to sign a waiver freeing Plants of Texas and Flint Farm and Apiary from any incident that could occur while on-site resulting from a bee sting or other injury during the hive inspection. You will not be allowed to attend this class without PPE. PPE for this class is mandatory. You can click the button titled "Reserve Now" to purchase your ticket to this event.
