Details

An unexpected bounty of blooms paired with striking colorful foliage! Abelia ‘Kaleidoscope’ is a showy yet compact shrub with a natural mounding growth habit; you won’t need to prune. Plants produce bright reds stems with brightly colored evergreen variegated foliage. In spring, new foliage emerges bright light green, then leaves gradually mature to a mixture of golden yellow and orange, followed by bright red fall color. The foliage is so pretty you don’t even need the flowers…but plants bloom in abundance with tiny white flowers that are a favorite of butterflies. Once established ‘Kaleidoscope’ is a very low-maintenance Texas tough shrub that thrives in full sun, but also performs well in part sun/part shade conditions. Plant groupings of 3-5 plants as a compact accent in mixed foundation plantings, use as a low-growing hedge, or fill easements. Plants even make excellent container specimens!
