While brilliant fall foliage trees are a staple of New England, they can be more difficult to spot in warmer climates like ours. But Maple October Glory scoffs at the heat because it’s adapted to our hot summers and mild winters and puts on an unbelievable fall show in the process. Medium green foliage gives way to vibrant orange to reddish-purple leaves that stay on the tree longer than other trees at the same time of year. This relatively fast-growing tree is very low maintenance, simply requiring moderate water and a springtime application of a balanced fertilizer to thrive. During periods of occasional drought, plan to give it a little extra love to keep it healthy—it’s not too much to ask for a tree that provides so much beauty and drama!
